Northern Territory Government priorities
From the red soil and hauntingly beautiful mountain ranges of the Central Australian desert to the tropical shores of the Arafura Sea in the North, the Northern Territory is home to almost 250 000 people and spans 1.421 million km².
Its relatively untouched landscape is part of its appeal, however its very remoteness presents challenges to government in the provision of services.
The Northern Territory Government manages more than 22 000 km of national highways, arterial and local roads, provides services and houses its population in urban, rural, remote and regional communities.
The following pages outline the Territory Government’s decision making priorities for the people who call this ancient land home.
